Innovation
|
Innovation is a core competance in Mech-Sense. The center has in recent years made some of teh most promising innovations in GI research. One of the ideas behind the center is multidisciplinarity and networking. We are always open for suggestions for collaboration and for proposals for study visits and Ph.D. projects. In many cases part of the project is done in the centers core facilities and other parts conducted somewhere else in the world.
Most collaborations are long-term and involves a number of projects. Students tend to “hang around” for many years after they finish their visit or degree.

Industrial collaborations are numerous and also welcomed. The collaboration with industry can take many forms ranging from financial support to longterm joined development of new devices.
The scientists at the center have contributed the following innovations:
- The triaxial mechanical test machine
Device for in vitro testing of circumferential, axial and shear mechanical properties in very soft tissues.
- Impedance planimetry (like endoFLIP)
Device for measurement of luminal cross-sectional areas in hollow organs in vivo.
- Tensiometer and tensiostat
Device for recording and controlling the wall tension during distension of an organ.
- The active passive in vivo length-tension diagram
Method to determinate the active and passive tensions during organ distension.
- Multimodal probe
Device for stimulation multiple receptor modalities in vivo.

Several devices are patented and commercialized by industrial collaborators for the benefit of mankind.
